Connect Provisional to Claude as a custom connector. Claude handles OAuth sign-in automatically — no API key or JSON config needed.

Setup

    Open Claude (web or desktop) and go to Settings, then Connectors.

    Click Add custom connector and paste the Provisional MCP URL below.

  3. 3

    Click Add — Claude opens a browser window for OAuth sign-in.

  4. 4

    Sign in to Provisional and approve access.

  5. 5

    Return to Claude and start asking legal questions.

Allow tools to run automatically

Claude asks for approval each time it calls a connector tool. When prompted, click Allow always to skip future prompts for that tool.

If you use Advanced Research, Claude invokes connector tools automatically without per-call approval once the research session starts.

All 18 Provisional tools are read-only — they search and retrieve legal documents but never modify anything — so it's safe to allow them all.

Good to know

Toggle connectors on or off per conversation using the + button and selecting Connectors.

There is no edit-in-place for connector URLs. To change the URL, remove the connector and add it again.

Sessions live in memory on the Provisional server. After a server deploy, Claude re-initializes the session automatically — you don't need to do anything.
